Overview

The Skills, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Fund (SIE Fund) is a transformative initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), supported through the World Bank's RISE Project. The Fund aims to strengthen The Gambia's TVET sector by enhancing institutional capacity, supporting relevant skills development, and fostering youth entrepreneurship. Through competitive grants and strategic partnerships, the SIE Fund empowers institutions and individuals to bridge the skills gap and drive sustainable economic growth.

Background & Objectives

The SIE Fund addresses the critical need for a skilled and entrepreneurial workforce. It supports The Gambia's national priorities by providing targeted funding to TVET institutions and youth entrepreneurs. Its three core objectives are:

  1. Strengthen TVET institutional capacity.
  2. Promote relevant, market-aligned skills development.
  3. Support youth entrepreneurship through startup assistance.
Alignment with National Priorities

The Fund aligns with the Education Sector Policy 2016-2030, the Gambia TVET Policy 2021-2030, and the MoHERST Strategic Plan 2021-2025. It operationalizes key policy goals including equitable access, quality education, and economic empowerment.
